Curt Manufacturing 13540 Class III Receiver Review

I installed the Curt 13540 Hitch on my 2002 2-door Ford Explorer Sport with a full size spare tire. It matched up perfectly with the factory holes in the chassis frame. I had to do no more than bolt on the hitch. The instructions said approximately 25 minutes for a do-it-yourselfer, but it took me about 1 hour start to finish including removing the spare, getting set up with all of the tools I would need, etc. I also took the opportunity to shoot some air into the spare while I had it off. A very easy installation. The only negatives are the fact that the hitch broke through the box during delivery and scratched off some of the paint to bare metal where it is visible after installation, and that Curt placed a paper based adhesive UPC sticker on the end where it was also visible. I carefully scraped off the sticker and removed the adhesive with some WD-40 and a little elbow grease. As for the minor scratches, it is, after all, a trailer hitch mounted to the underside of a truck. So I'm not going to worry about them. I'm very pleased with the purchase. This would have cost much more to have a hitch installed for me.

Spyder Auto Honda Accord Black Halogen Projector Headlight Review

I thoroughly enjoy these lights. The black housing is just so clean. I got them in my car in about an hour, it's fairly easy. I have a white 2000 Accord Coupe. The shipping was fast and they are packaged extremely nice.

Helpful tips:
-High/Low Bulbs are H1. I'm installing HIDs.
-The low beam (projection) adjustment screws are located just below the back of the light. (The left/right adjuster is easy to see but the up/down is hidden but is just below the rubber boot on the back of the headlight)
-The bumper has to be removed. (easy) For me it was 4 bolts and about 6 clips.
-Halo wiring gets connected to your turn signal connector. (3 wires: ground, turn signal, and parking) Wire to your parking lights. Quick connectors are the easiest.

I have several lead-acid batteries that I need to keep charged up; I heard about desulphating chargers, then found this one. I first used it on a 5-year-old car battery whose voltage indicated that it was at about 40% capacity. After following the directions (about 6 days of desulphating), the voltage jumped up to a point that indicated that the battery was now at 90%.

I have a friend who had been trickle charging his older car battery and felt that he had gotten it as fully charged as he could, but then I loaned him this charger and a week later got a phone message from him indicating surprise at how much his battery had improved. He was convinced! It's very possible to double a battery's life with this charger, and so it can pay for itself quickly.

The problems with this charger are the complexity and the poor documentation. I think you can see the all the lights and buttons on the front of it - somewhat bewildering to most. So you have to spend a lot of time reading the manual at first, and, I think, it could take a lot less time if they could find a competent technical writer. They KNOW their manual has problems because they added a supplement that says to ignore all the instructions in the manual and just read that one page supplement! The trouble is, even that supplement is a bit hard to understand. One example is how batteries are to treated as large, medium, or small, but they really don't tell you how to classify them. I had assumed a battery for a compact car would be considered medium, but a phone call to their support guy informed me that it was actually large. The manual just assumes that we can read their minds on things like this, but we can't, so we get confused and use the charger improperly.

I just bought a new Lincoln MKX that had no front bumper sensors, much less a curb sensor. Judging the front end extension on a new vehicle is always a challenge that usually ends up with mangled front spoilers. I took a chance on this after reading on line reviews. I had the auto tech at Best Buy near by do the installation and he did a great job. The instructions were a bit less detailed than would be desired but he got it done. Once everything was wired we tried to calibrate the sensor but it was totally unresponsive so we thought it was a bad unit. The tech started the car and backed it out of the bay and the thing started chirping. The instructions did not say that the motor had to be running to calibrate the sensor. It now works fine and keeps me 8-10 inches from any curb with 3 short chirps that are easily heard (there is a low-medium & high volume setting). The installation took about 2 hours. I have just ordered another one for my wife's Lexus ES.
