Atlantic Technology WA-50-SYS Wireless Transmitter/Receiver System (Black) Review

KIT CONTAINS:
2 wireless units (one to transmit & the other to receive.) They are small & sleek black in design. They're 1" wide, 1/2" thick & about 3 1/2" long. (1 meter = 4 ft)
2 USB AC power adapters
(all cables are male to male)
2 1/8" Stereo Cables 3.5mm headset jack male to male
2 1/8" Mono to RCA Cables (such as a sub woofer)
1 1/8" Stereo to RCA Cable (front or back speakers)
2 USB to USB Mini Cords.
These units support USB 2.0, run on 2.4GHz RF & have a SNR of 93DB.
This system has almost everything you need to work in minutes EXCEPT if you want to connect a speaker to the wireless unit that does not have a standard 1/8" audio or RCA jack connected (just the two pairs of wires). You'll then have to get the adapter plugs for a couple of dollars only.
SETUP
Setup with this system is quite versatile with many choices. These units use the 2.4 GHz frequency range, each wireless unit has a mini USB jack for power, a 3-way "zone" switch for changing the particular channel the unit uses so you can use up to 3 pairs of units at once. And lastly, each unit has a 1/8" jack built in for connecting to your speakers with one of the many accessory cables included, or your own.
Some popular ways you can use this wireless audio system:
1: You can stream Audio directly from your PC to your speaker system.
2: Wirelessly connect either your satellite stereo speakers so that you do not have to have wires running through your home.
3) Add an additional sub woofer to your audio system, or make your existing sub woofer connect wirelessly for a cleaner install and less wires running through your home.
TESTING
I used my laptop computer to stream audio from it to my Sony receiver in the living room.
The setup could not have been easier. I used the included 1/8" stereo plug to RCA cable (red/white) connecting it directly to the auxiliary audio line in on my receiver. I plugged that into the wireless receiver, and the wireless receiver was plugged into the USB cable the USB AC adapter in my power strip. For the computer, I used the USB to mini USB plug on the unit. Both units were set to Zone 1. Windows XP promptly recognized the device as a USB headset & powered up. When both devices are powered ON, the LED light on the devices go from red to blue. On my computer, I set the USB headset as my default audio output device.
Test 1:
Played several HD movie trailers. They played flawlessly, the stereo audio quality sounded crisp & clean with no perceptible lag & the audio synced perfectly.
Test 2:
Played some Audio files from iTunes & Youtube videos. To test the range of the device I let music play & walked through my house into each room & even a different floor of the house & there was no drop in quality. (Note, my wireless router is 5 GHz & my cordless phone system is DECT 1.9 GHz range, so there's no chance of causing interference with the unit.
Conclusion:
I am very pleased with the overall ease of use & setup of this device. The Audio quality was just as good as a wired setup, but with the convenience of wireless.
