First off, nothing can soundproof & deflect noises completely -- especially when you're living in a ground floor NYC studio apartment with two dogs! But I have been researching interesting solutions to help block, absorb &/or deflect sound. For my purposes, I needed a non construction based solution to minimize noise coming from my long hallway leading to the front door & then leading to the main lobby, mailboxes, & elevator. You can only imagine the noise. I'm actually pretty good with noise but my dogs on the other hand will bark if needed. And in NYC...living so close to your neighbors...barking isn't a good thing unfortunately.

So after much research, I found this double quilted panel & I had to give it a shot! I loved the double faced option with top & side metal grommets. For me, that's what I needed...as I wanted to suspend it from one wall to another. Basically blocking the hallway. I bought special hooks & it took less than 5 minutes to suspend. I have another hook on a side wall which will allow for me to take a panel corner, hook up, to keep open. Note: this is certainly not a curtain! It is a semi heavy panel of thick quilted material.

But my space is modern with grey/black tones & it works. It actually looks good & blocks my dogs from racing down the hallway to bark. Dual purposes...

It doesn't stop all sounds but it does really help! It blocks out a lot of noise, unwanted echo, & even draft...I'm very pleased so far & will update as I continue to use it.

I highly recommend for nontraditional spaces & modern applications to prevent noise.
