I bought this arm for two reasons. The first being that I am visually impaired and having the monitor close and at proper height is essential to me being able to use my computer. Secondly because I was buying a kneeling chair to help my sitting posture and related lower back pains. I am tall so I bend over to do everything it seems and at 32, my back is suffering from it. I work on a computer all day and my neck strain from looking down at my monitor was getting so bad I started getting tingling sensations in my right shoulder and couldn't get comfortable at night unless on my back which I can never fall asleep on. This product I can honestly say, has been one of THE BEST things I have ever purchased. I didn't want to spend the money on one honestly, and have used books stacked underneath for years. They only bring it higher, not closer, and are always in the way. This unit mounts to the rear edge of your desk freeing up the room under and around your monitor so you can put you keyboard UNDERNEATH and sit in a comfortable position and look straight ahead, relieving all neck strain. My job bought me one at my request, and I loved it so much I didn't want to get on my computer at home anymore. I got over the price and bought one for home immediately. I promise you will NOT REGRET purchasing this arm. The build quality is awesome, assembly is a piece of cake, comes with the tools you need (really just adjusting one set screw for pole height). And I would recommend to anyone, especially tall people, get the unit (this one) with the tall pole if you can. You can always lower it if you need to but if you buy the short pole you can never go beyond the top. You can however spend considerably more an buy another pole once you find that out, or have to return the short one for the tall pole model. Hope this helps some people :)
