1997-2001 Acura EL/1997-2000 Honda Civic Class I Trailer Hitch Review

I liked the quality of construction of this hitch and also the powder coated steel finish.It also came with an adapter 1-1/4" to 2" for the receiver. I have seen other hitches that cost more that are not constructed as well and are only painted black and scratch easily.
I did have to cut the mounting plates in the hardware kit with a band-saw to a width of 1-1/4" so they would fit within the frame rails and allow the mounting bolts to drop in easily. When installing the hitch i used a floor jack to support the hitch and attached the hitch above the muffler first,leaving the mounting nut loose then i used the floor jack to lift up the opposite end to attach the other side. Also you need to install the U-clamp before tightening the two mounting bolts. I had to use all of the shims contained in the kit for this installation. After getting it mounted,i tried to attach the bike carrier into the receiver but it would not fit. I measured the receiver and it was slightly less than an 1-1/4". So i had to use a metal removal tool to open up the receiver tube slightly to accept the bike carrier.
For the money,this appears to be a good hitch. Hope this was helpful.
