GPS Logbook Review

I am self-employed and need all the tax deductions I can get. In the past couple of years, I did a lousy job of keeping a mileage log. I always logged the long business trips, but I blew off the small, daily (and very deductible) trips, like to the post office or bank. Now that I leased a new luxury car, I vowed to keep a detailed log of my deductible(and non-deductible) trips. Of course, reality kicks in and I realize I already have a lousy track record with mileage logs, so perhaps I need to move to Plan B.

I'm happy I found GPS Log Book. So far, the experience has been flawless. I have had GPS Log Book for about one month. I opted to plug the device into the 12 volt outlet in my trunk, rather than in the cigarette lighter outlet, so it is out of my way. I remove it from the trunk about once a week, log into the manufacturer's website, attach it to my computer via USB and it uploads my trips to their website. The three uploads I've done so far went quickly and automatically. Each upload took about 45 seconds. No trouble. No calls or emails to tech support.

Then, on the GPS Logbook website, each trip is shown in a list. I make remarks about various trips, identify the locations I've visited, and mark whether a trip is for business or personal use. The data gathered by the GPS device is then translated into various reports I can download as PDF's. It also superimposes each trip on a Google Map, so I get a graphical view of where I've been.

On a related note: I had to take the new car back to the dealer for a wheel balancing. I always thought they were lying when they said they test-drove cars to make sure I'd be satisfied with the balancing job. Thanks to GPS Log Book, I can report that the dealer did what they said and test-drove the car...twice!

The last review I wrote wasn't too complimentary, but, for this product, I was so impressed by the thoughtful execution(everything worked, and it worked well!), that I had to write this review only because I rely so much on Amazon's customer reviews and this product stood out as exceptional.
