I have a Subaru Tribeca 2009 and just like any other OEM's out there, the accessories have "highway robbery" written all over them, which includes the hitch. So I started looking for after-market products and Curt Manufacturing came up as one of the better ones (well, the list isn't that long to begin with).

When I received the product, I was appalled on the packaging: the item is in a corrugated box with nothing else (now styrofoam inside the box). the box is way too big so at some point the item was just flopping inside it and tore open the box. Because of this there were heavy scratches on the item.

The good news is that given it's a Class III Receiver Hitch (3,000 lbs capacity), the footprint is really small...and it's pretty well-made. Only time will tell if the paint holds up, especially with the heavy scratches it already has prior to use. :-/

It's really a shame that the manufacturer skimp on the packaging. I would have gladly paid a few dollars more to make sure that what they're selling gets to me undamaged. Note that the poor packaging is not Amazon's fault; it's clearly the manufacturer's because the box has Curt Manufaturing logo on it; Amazon stamped a tracking label on it.
