Alpine SPR-60C 6.5" Car Audio Component System (Pair) Review

Had these speakers for 1 year now and at first they were only okay. I was running them with an Alpine MRP-F300 amp which only gave 50 watts rms. The highs were a bit harsh and there was little to no mid-bass. I finally purchased a better amp for the speakers and it is a HUGE difference. With an Alpine PDX-F4 with 122watt rms (birth sheet) these speakers really come alive. You can set the High Pass Filter at around 70 and these speakers will pump out those low/mid note with no distortion. They do sound harsher with more power, but it was easily fixed by setting the crossover jumper setting to -2db. If you're buying these, I recommend in not setting the crossover at the default 0db, but rather -2db or -4db. It will really make a difference in the quality and will ease the stress on your ears.

Overall, I enjoy these speakers. Worth the money at the discounted price offered on Amazon. Also, I have compared both the Type S and Type R component speakers, and the Type Rs blow the S out of the water.
