Full iPod / iPhone Control

Play your music through your iPod/iPhone just like you always would via a 30-Pin Dock connector cable that connects to the back of the BV9968BI and is in the form of a USB port.

Important: If your Boss Audio receiver has a USB port in the front of, like most do, you will not be able to have the "Full iPod/iPhone control." This will only work if you insert a USB memory stick only. Basically the same function as an SD memory card port.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming and Hands-Free

Bluetooth technology is a short-range radio technology that was developed to provide wireless audio and data transmission. The BV9968BI supports A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), a Bluetooth profile that allows for the wireless transmission of stereo audio from an A2DP source (typically a phone or computer) to an A2DP receiver (a set of Bluetooth headphones or stereo system). With Bluetooth you are also able to answer you phone with the press of a button. Keep on driving without any distractions.

On the front of the BV9968BI is an input labeled "AUX," which allows the input of audio signals from MP3 players, smartphones, and portable music players using a cable with two 3.5mm male plugs.

Important: Please note that this feature is not the same as the "Full iPod Control." This feature will only allow you to control your music and video by clicking on the designated buttons via the face or front side of your unit.

Boss Audio Systems BV9968BI DVD Receivers with Monitors Review

This head unit works great to have a monitor and adds great versatility to your car. The touchscreen works very well, and is responsive enough for most users. The motorized monitor is a great feature to keep a small form factor. The controls are easy to operate, and installation is pretty simple (if you're versed in car audio installation). To get the DVD portion to work properly it must be connected to the brake (or in the case of Boss, simply grounded. pink tied into the black ground cable **NOT LEGAL EVERYWHERE**). If you have a professional install the unit, Boss provides a pretty good warranty. The SD card is a great benefit, as I can quickly create playlists just for use in my car without having to make multiple CDs or create new playlists on my iPod or phone. Movies work great, although the viewing angle is greatly limited in (Las Vegas) daylight. Mp3 CDs will work on this unit as well. There are also push buttons that provide the function of favorite radio stations, pause/play, etc.

On the negative side, the directions are poor and some aspects can be difficult to install or setup. The touch interface could use some improvement as well. The interface could look so much better, but Boss isn't Apple. When the screen is out and in aux mode, the screen will turn blue and display "no video input", which is a given, but this prevents you from entering another mode via the touch interface instead of scrolling through with the Mode button. I would recommend closing the screen (quickly depress and release the power button once) when using aux mode. When the screen is out in radio mode, the station is displayed with large numbers, but any song and artist information (if provided) is in small text near the top right of the screen. This cannot be modified through settings on the device. There is very little customization allowed in the settings (you can change the background picture and some other minor things). However, the majority of these issues are simply aesthetic or based on personal preference. The iPod and USB cables from the back of the unit are somewhat short for universal use. If you planned on running them to your center console, if it is a more than a foot or two from the head unit it may require additional modification to extend these cables. Lastly it does not come with the regular dedicated subwoofer out (L/R), but instead has a single subwoofer out cable. It can be bypassed by connecting your subwoofers to the rear L/R outputs, and connecting the remote cable to the other blue cable to tell your amp to turn on.
