it was between this and the pro mark 1/2" 92' rope. chose this because it's rated at 16,xxx lbs and the pro mark one is rated at 13,xxx lbs, plus this has the rock/tree guard on it. worth the extra few bucks.

it cant get 5 stars though, since a 3/4" shackle does not fit through the eye of the rope, which is what i used on my cable. fitting a 3/4" shackle (the most common type used with winches) should definitely be taken into consideration when designing something like this.

update: this rope's held up real well, it's got several dozen good pulls on it. it's starting to develop some frays, most of them caused by the rope rubbing against the bolt mounting piece at the end of the rope (where the beginning of the rope bolts to the spool). Before you put this rope on your winch, wrap the bolt mounting piece with a lot of electrical tape to cover up the sharp corners on it. I ended up taking it off and taping it up like that, it's stopped any more frays from occurring while winching. You'll know what I mean when you see it.
