All Curt hitches come with mounting hardware and easy to follow installation instructions. The class 3 hitches have a 2 inch receiver opening, and rate up to 14,000 pounds gross trailer weight (GTW) and 1400 pounds tongue weight (TW). The trailer hitches are backed up with a limited lifetime warranty and a one year finish warranty.

Curt 13149 Black Class 3 Trailer Hitch Review

The Curt 13149 receiver is the newly redesigned hitch designed for the 2013 Toyota Rav4 (and is backward compatible with previous year models). I purchased it from AutoAnything dot com for a significant discount (check online for e-coupons) along with the Curt 56166 T-Connector trailer wiring harness which is confirmed to be the proper harness for the '13 Rav4.

Pros:
- One of the highest tongue weight ratings @ 525lb. Suitable for larger capacity cargo racks. I'm using the Pro Series 63153 60" x 24" Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier (Black) and love the combination.
- Towing capacity is 3,500lb, which far exceeds the 2013 Rav4's capabilities.
- The main tubes are round rather than square; I think the design looks better on the vehicle.
- Super easy installation. Disconnect muffler from 1 rubber muffler hanger (no tools needed); remove existing vehicle retrieval bracket (2 bolts); install receiver with 4 supplied bolts that go into 4 existing threaded frame holes. Tighten to 84 lb-ft (that's a *really good* tight for those who don't have a torque wrench...imagine putting about 100 lb of force at the end of your 10" long wrench.) Reattach muffler at hanger. Done! I was able to install it by myself (loosely attached one side at a time so that I didn't have to hold the entire thing in the air) in about 20 minutes. No vehicle lift necessary.
- Did not require reversing the sound dampening rod attached to the muffler (some hitch designs do). There was still plenty of clearance between the rod and the receiver after installation. I did, however, notice some light contact between the rod and the hitch after some off road time on mountain dirt roads, so I put a piece of 7/16" inner diameter rubber hose over the rod to provide some cushioning.
- The receiver is about flush vertically with the bumper...enough clearance to use a cargo rack or a bicycle rack, but does not stick out further than the bumper to catch shins.
- Made in the USA.
- Much more versatile than a 1 1/4" receiver.
- The receiver sits below the bumper, which means I don't have to lift accessories as far to install them (could also be a con for steeper departure angles.)

Cons:
- The receiver is visible beneath the bumper. In more aggressive situations, the receiver could make contact with the ground (e.g. steep driveways, etc.). I dragged the receiver through the dirt a few times while traveling on two-track dirt roads in the Rockies. I rather liked the warning of hitting the hitch instead of scraping the rear bumper. The Toyota OEM receiver is *not* visible beneath the bumper, but also costs between $700 and $1,000 and requires cutting the bumper plastic.
- Does not have the second "J-pin" hitch pin hole. If you want to use an anti-rattle J-pin (Tow Ready 63201 J-Pin Anti-Rattle Pin and Barrel Lockset for 2" Square Receivers), you'll need to drill your own hole.

After lots of research, I think it's the best design currently available and I have no regrets. It should be a perfect solution for all but the most aggressive users.
